Competition Overview

The Arizona Youth Entrepreneurship Award

The process of turning a business idea into reality can be learned, and the Arizona Youth Entrepreneurship Award recognizes innovative high school students who have taken the first steps in that process.

Undergraduate Mentors

Each finalist will be paired with an undergraduate student mentor at the Eller College. The mentor will contact the finalist in advance and meet with him or her on campus on the competition day.

Awards

Six finalists will present their ideas to a panel of business coaches during the McGuire Entrepreneurship Business Plans Competition on April 18, 2008.

  • Three runners up — $500 cash award each
  • Third place — $1,000 cash award plus medal
  • Second place — $1,500 cash award plus medal
  • First place — $2,000 cash award plus medal

The Eller College will match the award with a scholarship if the winning student enrolls at The University of Arizona and declares a major at the Eller College of Management.

Judging

A panel of business coaches comprised of current Eller College entrepreneurship students, Arizona business leaders, and representatives from the Eller College and 1st National Bank of Arizona will evaluate the applications and determine competition winners.
